HELP SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
A CALL TO ACTION
Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault provides desperately needed services for survivors of sexual abuse, incest, molestation and rape.
SACASA’s services are made possible with federal Victims of Crime Act grants which require us to raise matching funds in the amount of $100,000 annually.
In good economic times, we were able to meet that requirement with state and county grants as well as charitable gifts. Today, in these lean times, we are forced to rely mainly on charitable gifts.
We are asking you to join the Survivors Support Network, a group of caring community members who are helping us meet this challenge.
With the generous support of our community, we will not have to sacrifice critical services for survivors.
We ask Survivors Support Network members to commit to a small donation of $20/month to help SACASA continue to provide crisis intervention, mental health therapy, and other important services to survivors of sexual assault.
SACASA can draw from your debit or credit card on a monthly
basis (annually or quarterly, if you prefer). It’s just the cost of three trips to Starbucks or two movie tickets!
Remember, your monthly $20 matches $80 in federal funds which provides $100 worth of services.

How Your Donation Helps
Donations help SACASA provide vital services for survivors of sexual assault. Here are some of the services we provide:
- 24-hour bilingual crisis services, including crisis case management, emergency funds and advocacy
- 24-hour bilingual sexual assault hospital response to coordinate medical and legal services to survivors
- 24-hour medical forensic examinations provided by highly skilled nurse examiners. (The work of our examiners resulted in convictions or guilty pleas in 17 out of 18 of the most significant cases in Pima County 2004-2008.)
- Pediatric medical forensic examinations for children who experience sexual assault or abuse
- Post traumatic stress therapy provided in English or Spanish by licensed therapists, and
- Specialized services for battered immigrant women and victims of crime.
From October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008, we provided 5,344 therapy sessions to 370 individuals. We responded to 2,397 calls to our 24-hour bilingual crisis hotline. We responded to 260 hospital calls, and completed 128 sexual assault medical forensic exams.
Background
SACASA was founded in 1973 as Tucson Rape Crisis Center. We are the oldest and largest provider of comprehensive sexual trauma intervention and prevention services in Arizona. On July 1, 2008, we aligned ourselves with Arizona’s Children Association (AzCA) as a member of its family of agencies. In 2012, we will celebrate AzCA’s 100th continuous year of providing prevention and intervention services to individuals, families and children in Arizona.
Arizona taxpayers who itemize deductions on their federal tax return may qualify for a charitable tax credit to Arizona’s Children Association. Visit the Arizona Department of Revenue website at www.revenue.state.az.us, or consult your tax professional for details.
It is the mission of SACASA to reduce the trauma and incidence of sexual assault by providing treatment and promoting prevention of sexual abuse, incest, molestation and rape. We provide a safe place for survivors to gain strength, learn coping skills, and develop trusting, caring relationships.
